Snorers Could Benefit From the Anti Snore Shirt

Somnetics was at the SLEEP 2011 Conference this week and saw all kinds of sleep apnea products from CPAPs to sleep magazines. One intriguing product was the Anti Snore Shirt by Rematee. Ever hear of it? This shirt has been around a while and would be useful for the person who snores or has mild sleep apnea. It is basically a t-shirt that prevents you from sleeping on your back. The shirt itself is made from 100% Combed Cotton. What’s different about the shirt is that it comes with three inflatable bumpers. Yes, you read that right. Bumpers. These keep you sleeping on your side, rather than you back.

The idea behind the Anti Snore Shirt is based on positional therapy to treat or stop snoring. Controlling the position in which you sleep isn’t easy. People who are asleep rarely know what position they’re in or that they’re snoring. Probing a pillow behind your head could help, but it is not effective.

The bumpers used in the Anti Snore Shirt are about the size of softballs. There are three and  are slipped into sewn-in pockets on the back side of the shirt. The key is to have a comfortable but snug fit. If the shirt is too loose, the bumpers could move…and not be as effective.

Of course, if you are diagnosed with moderate to obstructive sleep apnea, this shirt wouldn’t be the best therapy for you. To learn more see the Rematee website.
