Using Your CPAP Might Make You Friskier This Valentine’s Day

Dr. Brandon Peters, who writes for About.com, tackled the topic of sex and using a CPAP late in January 2010. Today being Valentine’s Day, we thought we’d pass along his insight.

Your first thought upon learning you have to use a CPAP to treat your sleep apnea is how horrible the mask looks. We’ve not yet met a CPAP user who believes he or she looks “good” wearing a mask, but to get a good night’s sleep, it’s a necessity.

So what does Dr. Peter’s recommend as a first step? “Talk about your concerns with your loved one, see how they feel, and quickly move on.” He goes on to point out that the CPAP may be exactly what is needed to rekindle your love life.

Using the CPAP on a regular basis is likely to have you feeling more energized, less sleepy, and ultimately more frisky and interested in sex. In fact, sleep apnea has been associated with low testosterone levels in men and CPAP use may help reverse this.

Over the long term, communication with your partner is the most important thing to remember to improve intimacy between the two of you. Read Dr. Peters’ full article.
