In his February 14 blog, Ken Walker covered traveling with a CPAP. Taking your CPAP with you through an airport has never been easy. Ken listed a number of practical tips including:
·
- Try to wean yourself off the water tank. Leaving the humidifier behind will make traveling much easier.
- If you need the humidifier, be sure it is thoroughly dry before packing it.
- Take out your CPAP when going through TSA security. Tell them what it is and request that they be careful with it.
- Consider checking your CPAP instead of carrying it through the airport.
- If you pack your CPAP in a checked bag, wrap it in a t-shirt and secure it on all sides with sock bundles, shirts and other soft things so the device won’t slide back and forth.
- Pack an extra 2-port outlet. There’s never enough outlets in a hotel room.
These are great tips. Another one to consider is to find a second, travel CPAP that is small, compact and easy to pack….one like Transcend.
Here’s why Transcend is perfect for traveling:
- Smallest and lightest CPAP on the market
- No humidifier needed; the heat moisture exchanger technology provides humidification without the hassle
- Battery pack option…no worries about that extra outlet in the hotel
