Woman Steals CPAPs to Fund Gambling Debt

Can you believe this? In Indiana, a woman stole dozens of sleep apnea machines from the LaPorte Hospital and was selling them to fund her gambling addiction. Now she faces a two-to eight-year sentence in prison. The woman had been stealing CPAPs and Bi-PAPs that were stored in the sleep apnea unit of the hospital. Funny thing was, the units started showing up at VA clinics in Oklahoma and North Carolina. Once tracked, the discrepancy was found in hospital inventory and the trail led back to Cheryl Pender, a worker at the hospital and had a key to the storage room where the units were kept.
